![]() ![]() We love to hear people want to see more of this kind of remaster path we’ve gone down. We’ve seen several journalists as well as part of their reviews, or other articles, say, ‘okay, Red Alert 2 next, right?’ Obviously we love to hear that. In an interview with Euro Gamer, they ask: “Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2 remaster next?” to which Vessella replies: “Well, it’s definitely been requested! We’ve seen hundreds and hundreds of posts and comments from the community requesting to continue on this path and to look at TibSun and RA2. In fact there is already demand for such a game as an interview with Jim Vessella (EA Producer) suggests. It may be wise to follow the format of combining two major Command and Conquer titles into one remaster as they did with the first remaster and throw in a bunch of exclusive content to boot. The natural progression of remasters would presumably take the form of Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 2. So it would be foolish to not bolster a potential remaster with expansions and content from the past to really give the consumer some bang for their metaphorical buck. These are well supported games, it is definitely part of their appeal. Another factor of EA’s first Command and Conquer remaster is the all-encompassing way that they done it featuring two original Command and Conquer games and their subsequent exclusive content and expansion packs. With the first Red Alert game taking up part of the Command and Conquer Remastered Collection, it would be natural to remaster the next Red Alert titles in the franchise in the form of Red Alert 2. The Red Alert series within Command and Conquer has been a vastly popular one in the past. EA may be on to a winning formula here and they have a vast library of RTS games to choose from in the franchise. As mentioned, Command and Conquer Remastered Collection was critically well received: with a critic score of 8.2 and an even higher user score of 8.8 according to popular review aggregator Metacritic. With the omission of mobile games, Command and Conquer Remastered Collection is the only title released by the franchise in the last 10 years. So with this brief and nostalgic trip down memory lane, where does this leave us for the future of Command and Conquer with EA at the helm? Overall, the remaster received generally favourable reviews from critics and users alike. Titled Command and Conquer Remastered Collection, it also included console port exclusive content and expansion packs. However in June 2020 Petroglyph Games and Lemon Sky Studios teamed up with publisher EA to remaster the first two Command and Conquer titles (Command and Conquer 1995 and Command and Conquer: Red Alert 1996). Since that date EA have released only two original games in the franchise since that point in Command and Conquer 4 and Command and Conquer Rivals, both receiving mixed reviews with the latter being particularly critical. In total, the Command and Conquer franchise had shifted 30 million copies as of 2009. EA saw plenty of success with the franchise, spawning the Red Alert expansions and many other games along the way. As the expansion pack to the critically-acclaimed and fan favorite, Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, this strategy game returns to the Tiberium Universe with Kane at the center of a new single-player campaign spanning twenty years – from the rebirth of the Brotherhood of Nod after the Second Tiberium War through the dramatic events of the Third Tiberium War and beyond.Having taken over Westwood Studios in 1998, EA quite shrewdly acquired one of the original and most influential RTS (Real Time Strategy) video games on the market. The Command and Conquer series continues with Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. With the corrupt substance Tiberium blanketing most of the Earth, the infamous Kane is back to lead his Brotherhood of Nod in a massive global assault on the Global Defense Initiative and the few remaining livable Blue Zones left on the planet. The year is 2047 and a massive nuclear fireball explodes high in the night sky, marking the dramatic beginning of the Third Tiberium War and the long-awaited return of the franchise.
